Nextiva is a capable, established business phone platform with a low advertised entry price. Read the fine print and that price comes with a 12-month commitment, and the features many small teams want, AI call notes and an AI receptionist, sit on the top plan or cost extra. That gap is why people search for Nextiva alternatives.
Here are eight of them, with real starting prices on both monthly and annual terms, what the entry plan includes, and the catch on each.
Prices checked September 30, 2026 on each vendor’s own pricing page. Prices are in US dollars, before taxes and fees. Plans change, so confirm before you buy.
Why people look for a Nextiva alternative
Nextiva does a lot right. Core includes voice, business texting, video meetings, call routing, an auto-attendant, team chat and a mobile app, and Nextiva lists 24/7 support on all plans. Engage adds customer channels such as live chat and a chatbot. For a team that wants a traditional phone system from a known brand, it is a reasonable choice.
Where it loses people:
- The 12-month term. Nextiva says its annual Small Business pricing requires a paid 12-month or longer minimum term. That is the price behind the $15 headline.
- Month-to-month costs more. Core is $23 per user month to month instead of $15. Engage goes from $25 to $50.
- Texting caps. Core includes 100 texts per user per month and Engage 500. Unlimited texting is on Scale.
- AI sits at the top. AI call notes, summaries and real-time transcription are on Scale, at $75 per user. XBert, the AI receptionist, is an add-on at $99 a month per 100 interactions, then $0.99 per interaction.
Our guide to Nextiva pricing walks through every plan and add-on.

The 8 best Nextiva alternatives
1. Ooma Office
Who it’s for: small offices that want a straightforward phone system, desk phones included, without signing a contract.
Price: Essentials is $19.95 per user per month, Pro is $24.95 and Pro Plus is $29.95. Ooma lists no contract on any of the three. Its plan calculator also shows a one-time $29.95 activation fee.
What’s included: Essentials has unlimited calling to the US, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico, a virtual receptionist (phone menu), a mobile app, a free toll-free number and digital fax. Pro adds texting (up to 250 a month), a desktop app, video meetings and call recording. Pro Plus adds AI transcriptions, CRM integration, up to 1,000 texts, team chat and call queuing.
The catch: Essentials has no texting, and Ooma’s AI Answering Service is an add-on starting at $14.99 per account per month. Its fuller AI Receptionist is priced through sales.
2. Quo (formerly OpenPhone)
Who it’s for: small teams that text customers as much as they call and want shared numbers in a clean inbox.
Price: Starter is $15 per user per month billed annually or $28 monthly. Business is $23 or $33, and Scale is $35 or $47.
What’s included: a number per user, unlimited US and Canada calling and texting, voicemail transcripts and Sona, Quo’s AI agent, with 1,000 credits a month, which Quo says is about 10 calls. Business adds AI call summaries, phone menus, transfers, automatic recording and CRM integrations.
The catch: it is per user, and Sona beyond the included credits is a monthly add-on from $25 to $199. Texting carries carrier registration fees of $19.50 one-time plus $1.50 to $3 a month. No meetings or live chat channel like Nextiva Engage. See our Quo alternative page for more.
3. FAST RESPONSE AI (our product)
Who it’s for: small businesses and service teams that want calls answered every time, without a 12-month commitment.
How it works: you get a business number, new or ported, that your team answers from the iOS, Android or web app. When nobody picks up, the AI answers, 24/7 and in 29+ languages. It handles common questions, qualifies the caller, books appointments and can transfer urgent calls to whoever is on call. Every call, from your team or the AI, is recorded, transcribed and summarized in one inbox with your texts and website chats, and logged in a built-in CRM.
Price: Starter is $29 a month for one user, with 250 voice minutes, 30 AI minutes and 250 texts. Pro is $79 a month for your whole team: unlimited users, no per-seat fees, automations that send texts or push call details to your other tools, 1,000 voice minutes, 100 AI minutes and 1,000 texts. Scale is $249 a month and adds outbound AI call and text campaigns, a toll-free number option and custom workflows. There is no contract on any plan, setup takes about 5 minutes, and we handle your texting registration so you text from day one.
The catch: it does not include video meetings or team chat, so it is not a full replacement for a suite. Plans include monthly allowances, with pay-as-you-go rates beyond them. Integrations run through automations and webhooks rather than a large app marketplace. For a direct comparison, see our Nextiva alternative page.
4. Dialpad
Who it’s for: teams that want AI transcription and call summaries from the entry plan instead of the top one.
Price: Dialpad Connect Standard is $15 per user per month billed annually or $27 monthly. Pro is $25 or $35 with a three-seat minimum. Enterprise is quoted, from 100 seats.
What’s included: unlimited calling, SMS and MMS, real-time transcription, AI Recaps with summaries and action items, and video meetings. Pro adds CRM integrations, 24/7 support and up to 10 offices. There is a 14-day free trial.
The catch: Standard is limited to one office, and Dialpad’s AI Agent, which can answer calls, is priced separately through sales. Monthly billing costs well above the annual rate.
5. Zoom Phone
Who it’s for: teams that already meet on Zoom and want the phone in the same app.
Price: US and Canada Metered is $10.50 per user per month billed annually. Unlimited is $16 per user billed annually or $18 monthly, bundled with Workplace Basic. Bundles with Workplace Pro are $20.50 or $24, and with Workplace Business $24.50 or $29.
What’s included: SMS and MMS in the US and Canada, call recording, voicemail transcription, unlimited auto attendants, call queues, AI post-call summaries and 24×7 live chat and phone support.
The catch: per user, and the cheapest Unlimited bundle caps meetings at 40 minutes. Zoom lists a Virtual Agent Receptionist that answers calls, with a 100-minute free trial on Phone plans, but the ongoing price is not on the Phone pricing page.
6. RingCentral
Who it’s for: multi-site businesses that want calls, meetings and messaging in one mature suite, with a month-to-month option.
Price: RingEX Core is $20 per user per month billed annually or $30 monthly. Advanced is $25 or $35.
What’s included: unlimited domestic calling, on-demand call recording, 100 toll-free minutes, video meetings for up to 300 people and the AI Virtual Assistant on Core. Advanced adds CRM integrations, multi-site support, reporting and 1,000 toll-free minutes.
The catch: Core includes only 25 SMS per user per month (100 on Advanced), and its AI Receptionist is an add-on starting at $39. Our RingCentral vs Nextiva comparison goes plan by plan, and there is a RingCentral alternative page too.
7. Vonage Business Communications
Who it’s for: teams that want a classic business phone system with desk phones and a promotional rate.
Price: for a small account, Mobile is $19.99 per line per month on monthly billing, or $13.99 with Vonage’s 30% annual promotion. Premium is $29.99 or $20.99, and Advanced is $39.99 or $27.99. Per-line rates drop as line count grows, and taxes and fees are extra.
What’s included: Mobile includes desktop and mobile apps, unlimited domestic calling, SMS and MMS, and voicemail. Premium adds desk phone support, video meetings for up to 200, team messaging and 20+ integrations. Advanced adds on-demand recording (15 hours a month), visual voicemail with transcription and call groups.
The catch: if the 12-month term is why you are leaving Nextiva, note that Vonage’s discount also needs a 1-year contract, with early termination fees that its terms say can run up to the total contract price. Monthly plans have no termination fee but pay full rate.
8. 8×8
Who it’s for: larger organizations, often with international offices, that want unified communications and a contact center from one vendor.
Price: pricing on request. 8×8’s plans page sends both 8×8 Work and 8×8 Contact Center to a quote.
What’s included: 8×8 Work covers calling, meetings and messaging, a receptionist console, analytics, global coverage and integrations. The contact center adds omnichannel routing, supervisor tools and AI-enabled self-service.
The catch: no public prices, and it is designed for larger deployments than most teams on Nextiva Core.
How to choose a Nextiva alternative
Be specific about what you want to change.
- You want out of annual commitments. Ooma and FAST RESPONSE AI list no contract at all. Dialpad, Quo, Zoom and RingCentral bill monthly, at higher rates than their annual prices.
- You want AI without the top tier. Dialpad includes transcripts and AI Recaps on Standard, and Zoom includes post-call summaries. For AI that answers calls, compare what each charges at your call volume.
- You text customers a lot. Quo includes unlimited US and Canada texting on Starter, and Dialpad lists SMS and MMS on every plan. Check each plan’s limits against Nextiva’s 100 texts per user on Core.
- You need meetings, desk phones and multiple sites. RingCentral, Zoom Phone and Vonage are the like-for-like options. 8×8 if you are large or international.
- Missed calls are the real cost. A cheaper seat will not answer the phone. If you are comparing AI answering with a staffed service, our answering service cost guide lays out typical pricing.
Price every option at your real headcount, on the billing term you would actually pick, with the add-ons you would actually use. Our plans are on the FAST RESPONSE AI pricing page.
